Team Yamaha Mako win Golden Classic

The Golden Classic at Lake Windamere New South Wales has become well known as one of the premier freshwater fishing competitions in Australia. This year was no different, with a record field of 68 teams and over 200 invited anglers.

Team Yamaha Mako with Dave Shelton, Murray Chapman and Brendan Lee put together a winning card of their best 10 Golden Perch to win the perpetual Steve Starling trophy for Champion Team.

Mako's Jo Starling again proved her fresh water credentials to score Champion Lady Angler for yet another year!

Dave nearly pulled off the clean sweep, narrowly missing out on Champion Angler title by millimetres!

The second day of competition saw the bite shut down early and fishing remained tough throughout the day. The Mako boys headed for  timbered bays, working  weed edges.  Copper (G3HR and G3SX) polarised lenses were the weapons of choice for this type of work, providing excellent contrast and colour definition to the weed beds and timber structure.  These lenses are ideal for long sunny days on fresh water and are highly recommended!
